CONFERENCE PROGRAM; HOTEL and Hotel Cut-Off Date for Lower/Discounted Rates on Sleeping Room; PAPER PRESENTATION

Dear Attendee at the 2024 Annual Meeting of ABF&E and AEF:
This is our Logistics Flyer #1 updating and reminding you of the following key information for attending the conference and presenting your work:

THE CONFERENCE PROGRAM.
  1. The 2024 Conference Program is being finalized for Draft # 1. We expect to send it to you and post it on our website in around seven (7) days from this date. A great Majority of presentations, In-Person and/or Virtual, are being scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, September 18 and 19 during the hours 8:00 AM to 5:45 PM; PST. The rest, mostly Virtual, would be scheduled for Friday, September 20 from 8:00 AM till Noon. Once you receive Program-Draft I in seven days, you will have enough time to check your planned Session(s) and let us know of any typos or omissions.
  2. Virtual Presentation Option - Must be fully Pre-Recorded in fluent English and ready for presentation by the Authors/Co-Authors. This is especially critical for Presenters outside U.S.A for a number of reasons; including Internet connection and speed. IF for any reasons you must present your Paper virtually, please let us know of your decision ASAP but by no later than August 21 by emailing us at staff1@aobf.org. Once we have the names of individuals who prefer virtual presentation, we will email them the needed log-in credentials along with a dedicated URL so you can present your paper, hear and see the comments on your presented work, and sit at any other virtual presentation available. In case you miss a Virtual Presentation that you wanted to participate in, we would also make available to you, the Registered Attendee ONLY, the View/Listen-Only version of such presentation(s) soon after the Conference.
  3. Non-Registered, Non-Paid, Individuals have already been removed for the Program. IF you had a reason for Non-Registration and Payment, you can still do that by No Later than a Week from Date of this Letter. . Here is the URL to pay: https://www.aobf.org/conference-registration-form/
  4. FINAL VERSION OF YOUR PAPER AND ASSIGNED DISCUSSANTS FOR EACH PAPER. Full and Final Papers are DUE BY Friday AUGUST 23. All such papers will be sent to the assigned Sessions Chairs and Discussants by the following Week. So if you had not sent us your Full and Final paper at the Submission time for review, or if you have a new version, please email us your very Final paper by August 23 at: staff1@aobf.org.
PRESENTING YOUR PAPERS AND/OR WORKSHOP AND PANEL
Presentation Equipment. All assigned conference spaces/rooms are equipped with a PC computer, projector, and screen for your In-Person presentation purposes. We do not have Apple computers so if you have software that runs on Apple you need to bring your own equipment and needed wires and have it installed well before your presentation.
Power Point Presentation. As a backup plan and for your convenience at the time of presentation, we suggest you email yourself and us a digital copy of your PowerPoint Presentation in case you face difficulty in accessing your file at the conference.
Presentation Time: Given most sessions are 90-minutes long and have three (3) presentations in them, the maximum time for your presentation is 30 minutes. This 30 minutes includes time for in-session Qs&As. We suggest you present your work in around 20-23 minutes so a minimum of seven (7) minutes left for the assigned Discussant. Sessions’ Chairs will keep track of time for each presentation. So please plan accordingly.

AWARD FOR THE BEST DOCTORAL STUDENT PAPER IN BEHAVIORAL FINANCE & ECONOMICS - a Heads-up. If you are a qualified (Single Author) doctoral student and have already submitted - or will submit your Final paper by the Deadline in item IV above, please note the winner will be announced, recognized, and the Award Certificate along with the Prize check will be given during our Thursday Lunch at the conference. If you presented such a paper Virtually, we will mail you, via Certified Express Mail, the Award and the check as just described. We highly encourage all qualified Doctoral Students to participate for this unique opportunity.

HOTEL INFO We have already reserved a block of rooms at discounted Conference Group Rates at our Conference Hotel, Hilton Hotel in Woodland Hills/Los Angeles, CA. The Needed URL will be emailed to you in 7-10 days from now.

FLYING INTO LOS ANGELES: TWO AIRPORTS ARE AVAILABLE For attending the conference you may fly into the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) OR the Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR): https://hollywoodburbankairport.com/ and more info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollywood_Burbank_Airport

The Hollywood Burbank Airport involves much less traffic and is also closer to our conference venue; Hilton Woodland Hills/Los Angeles. BUT IF you must fly to LAX, to save substantially on transportation fare for arriving at the hotel, you can get on one of the “The Van Nuys FlyAway® Bus Terminal” buses that depart right from your arriving terminal at LAX. Once the bus drops you off at the Van Nuys Bus Terminal, you are very close to the Conference Hotel and your Uber or Lift fare for going to the Hotel would be rather small. For full info on the said Bus Schedule, visit this URL and Make Sure to get on the bus that says “Van Nuys” and NOT “LA Union Station”! https://www.flylax.com/en/flyaway-bus. By the way, you do NOT need to have a bus ticket, costing around $11.00, to board such buses, you can pay when you arrive at the bus station in Van Nuys.

At the end, we wish all of you a very safe and rewarding travel and very much looking forward to seeing you in the "City of Angels", Los Angeles, as planned.

On behalf of the Conference Management and our Support Team, Jenny Adams and Arun Kumaar. staff1@aobf.org
